Snowshoe, Wine and Brew
Y’all I’m not trying to jinx things, but I’m slowly beginning to love winter! As a fall baby, I love all things fall but struggled hard when it came to that long Michigan winter. I figured I needed to change my relationship to snow or we were going to have problems. Getting outside in winter has been the top of my priorities the last few years to help with that, and snowshoeing is slowly winning my heart.
Mostly when I think of going up North in Michigan its for summer things: beautiful beaches, summer festivals and camping. But do not sleep on these cities in the winter! About three years ago, I was invited by friends for a Snowshoe, Wine and Brew tour and have been returning since.
Snowshoe, Wine and Brew Tour
TC BrewBus hosts the tour, which allows you to snowshoe to three local wineries and breweries on selected winter Sundays.
You have the option to rent snowshoes for the tour as well. To be honest, the first couple of years we didn’t actually get enough snowfall to snowshoe, so most people just hiked the trail.
The tour is self-paced, so you can go as fast or as slow (my preferred speed!) as you want to.
This is a great beginninger snowshoe trail! Although you are taking trails along the wineries, there are just a few hills and they aren’t too steep. The tour drops you off at the first stop and depending on your pace, you can enjoy the tour for a few hours.
Time for a warmup
The tour offers one complimentary drink at each stop, with the option to buy more. If you purchase additional items, they will be transfered to the last stop, where you can pick them up. A few of the stops also offer light food/snacks to enjoy.
You can warm up by the fire pits along the way.
In the before times (pre Covid), stopping inside for drinks and food was an option. You can still do so now, but typically have to make reservations if you want to grab a table inside.
This is probably one of my favorite winter activities. A good mix of activity, food and drinks. There are plenty of other options to explore while in the area, including hiking along the sand dunes, checking out some pool igloos, and enjoying some great restuarants.
I’ll share our hike along the sand dunes later, but if you are looking for a fun winter activity, you can’t beat enjoying a fun snowshoe, wine and brew tour. Happy Snowshoeing!
